Wealth management for Institutions

Too often Institutions are provided an ‘off-the-peg’ investment solution, rather than one that genuinely fits their needs. We apply a wealth management offering to a wide variety of Institutions including insurance providers, banks and supranational organisations.

We have many years’ experience working with captives, small insurers and re-insurers and manage more than $1bn in discretionary investment portfolios on their behalf. The investment needs of Institutions are as unique as the Institutions themselves, so our investment solutions are designed to minimise volatility and increase transparency.

We provide two main types of services for insurance clients.

Core Investment Management Services

Our primary business is investment management services for large insurers. We recognise that the investment needs of insurers are as unique to them, therefore we have designed investment solutions around the interests of each client.

For each client we create unique portfolios which are actively managed and optimised for growth, capital preservation and liquidity. The client assets are held by independent custodians and when required can be designed to be fully admissible for re-insurance collateral purposes. We involve our clients in the process as much as possible, providing bespoke monthly or quarterly portfolio reporting and regularly report at Board meetings. We essentially ensure clients are kept fully informed on the progress of their investments.

Cell Captives Investment Management

The other area of focus is serving the needs of Cell Captives. We recognise that most asset managers working within the Captive Insurance space are predominantly focused on catering to the needs of larger Captives which over time has led to consolidation across the sector. We have identified the ‘advice gap’ this has created for smaller Captives. To cater to this gap we set up a Cell Captives proposition which groups Cell Captives together meaning that entry levels are much lower, typically a minimum $200,000, and deliver a service based upon the very same investment philosophy and asset allocation models that larger Captives enjoy.

There are several issues that Cell Captive groups have to address such as investment strategy and asset allocation; portfolio governance particularly around entry, premature exit rules and liquidity constraints; investor alignment; tax implications and administration. It might also be that a Fund solution might not be appropriate for the Captive. We are highly experienced at providing these services to clients and can provide segregated accounts held by a US bank, managed to US tax compliant standards.
